Irish EPA E-coli review of private wells.

Further to our blog highlighting the number of private wells that have an e-coli  bacterial contamination the numbers have been increased by the EPA as the result of a new survey that indicates that 50,000 private wells are contaminated.

The reasons for this increase is the lack of maintenance undertaken by homeowners, incorrect finishes to protect the well head and prevent ingress from surface material and liquids, and the failure to submit water samples for regular analysis.

Private water supplies including those serving rural schools and even hospitals offer some of the States worst quality water the report has warned.

More On Fluoride.

Safe Water Fluoride Levels Must Be Zero!

Here at Daily Health Alert we've written countless times about the dangers of fluoride over the years... it's a contentious topic, but no matter which way you look at it, in the end fluoride in our drinking water will end up being known as one of the greatest scams in history.

Sadly, it's one of those mainstream medical myths that's so fixed in our minds that all you have to say is "fluoride" and most people will still immediately think "strong, healthy teeth.

In an article in today's Sunday Times, Eithne Shortall highlights another reason why collecting rainwater should be approached professionally.

The suggestion from the water authorities is that we can collect rainwater in water barrels and reduce our water charges by using this for various purposes around the property.

However a two year study has found a 'conclusive link' between water butts and an increase in mosquitoes.

Research conducted at the University of Reading has found that water butts provide a perfect climate for them to breed.

Is The End Of Fizzy Drinks In Sight?

Back in the 80s and 90s, the fizzy drinks industry reached its peak when companies like Coca-Cola began pushing larger drink sizes and "upsizing." As people bought into the 'super-size culture', rates of obesity and diabetes soared and even though the industry still denies any connection with these diseases, mounting research suggests otherwise.

Thankfully, in recent years, it seems that the tide is lowly starting to turn against fizzy and diet fizzy drinks with the latest numbers showing that as much as 63 per cent of all Americans are now avoiding fizzy drinks.

Is This The Answer To MRSA Infection?

Today, I am straying from my usual topics, providing free water information, because of the important nature of the news I want to share with you.

I spent Christmas 2004 in hospital having undergone a triple bypass heart operation. Take my word for it, we, a group of about twelve patients who could not be returned home for various reasons, spent a pleasant Yuletide, comforted with glasses of wine to wash down the Christmas day meal.

My fears had never been that I would not survive the surgery, but that I would survive the surgery and then succumb to a MRSA bacterial infection.
